Frequently asked questions.

  1. What types of wood are available?
    Pine, Elm, Hemlock & Spruce.

  2. Doesn't softwood mark easily?
    Yes, however that is its nature. The more stressed it becomes, the better it looks.

  3. What widths are available?
    We supply planks from 4" to 20" wide.

  4. Will there be cupping or shrinking?
    We use "KILN" dried wood, therefore we can guarantee there will be no cupping or warping, or we will replace the affected boards.

  5. How difficult are the planks to install?
    It is easy to install by the "Do It Yourselfer" or you can have our professionals do it for you.

  6. What about in-floor heating?
    These floors are a full 1" thick. They are designed to go over in-floor heating. (particulars will be explained by the manufacturer).

  7. What kind of finish do you use?
    We use a water based, non allergenic and environmentally friendly finish.

  8. Why is Pine so popular?
    Pine is not only beautiful to look at, but the insulating qualities of pine make it more comfortable underfoot. Its even grain structure, unique knots and warm coloring put pine plank flooring in a class of its own.

  9. I have 2 large dogs. How will these floors stand up?
    We are not sure of the reason, however, we have letters from previous customers stating that their dogs do not damage the pine floors like they did other floors.

  10. You claim we will save money, how is that?
    1. You can get more flooring for your money. (1" thickness)

    2. Pine holds heat, saving on heating bills.

    3. Our floors are structural boards, you can save on sub-floors.

    4. Plank flooring is easily installed by the "Do It Yourselfer". You can save on contractors.

  11. What are the advantages of using softwood plank flooring over hardwood flooring?
    1. Softwood acquires a natural patina with use that improves with age.

    2. It is easily installed and comes in wider and longer lengths than hardwood.

    3. It can be stained any color and is easier to refinish.
